OHM Teacher

Supriya R

Supriya’s yoga journey started when she accompanied a friend for a free trial yoga class. Since then, she has been practicing yoga for 12 years and has been teaching for 10 years.

In the beginning, Yoga was more of a physical practice. At that point in time, she had just left her job as an architect for 10 years, was looking after a child, and had a mortgage to pay off. Yoga helped her to be more focused and determined than ever to be calm and at peace. It helped her to be more accepting, and trusting and not look back with regret or judgment. This made her realize that this was how she wants to live her life every day – a life of mindfulness.

Supriya believes yoga is about being present, on and off the mat. Propelled by the intention to share this amazing experience, she enrolled in a 200-hour YTT in 2012 with Dev Kapil at One Wellness Singapore.

Supriya’s classes are very inclusive, cater to yogis of all levels and will challenge you mentally and physically. Her cues are very systematic and precise (the architect’s mind in her!). She encourages her students to recognize the freedom of being present and to realize that the physical practice plays a small part in the yogic way of living. She teaches yoga as a holistic discipline of the mind, body, and spirit.

As strict as Supriya may seem, she is a fun-loving and funny person. When she is not teaching yoga, she enjoys long walks, hiking, and spending time with family. She’s a huge foodie who loves to cook (she likes her food spicy!) and never skips her desserts.“Do unto others as you would have done unto you”, is Supriya’s golden rule, something she follows in life, on and off the mat.
